How to check the amount and payment date of your tax refund in MyTax

You can see the amount and payment date of your tax refund on the MyTax home page after you have received a tax decision. Please note that if your tax assessment is not yet complete, the refund amount and refund date may still change.

Log in to MyTax (opens in a new window). Then proceed as follows.

  1. You can see the amount and payment date of your refund on the MyTax home page under Tax decision on income tax.

Please note: You can see the amount of your tax refund in MyTax only after you have received a tax decision.

If you or your spouse make corrections to your tax returns, MyTax will not show the tax refund. Instead, you will see the text “Your return is being processed”. You can see the tax refund, if any, in MyTax only after you have received a new tax decision. The refund amount and refund date may also change.

The refund amount will be shown under Income tax decision until the date of payment.

Please note that the refund amount is not necessarily the same as the amount paid into your bank account, because the Tax Administration may use tax refunds for settling your taxes.

  2. Please note that if the Tax Administration has used your refund to cover your overdue taxes, this is not reflected in the refund amount you see on the MyTax home page. Check the "Payments and refunds made" section to see how the refund has been used. Read more: How to see in MyTax if your tax refund has been used for paying taxes.

Between your tax assessment end date and the 4th of the following month, the Tax Admininistration can use your tax refund:

    • to settle any unpaid taxes immediately after your assessment has ended, and
    • to pay upcoming taxes immediately on their due dates.
