How to request a tax debt certificate in MyTax

You can order a certificate of tax debts in MyTax. The certificate is a list of any unpaid taxes and overdue self-assessed tax returns that you or the company you represent may have.

The certificate is displayed in MyTax and you can print it out any time. You will also receive the certificate by post.

Log in to MyTax (opens in a new window). Then proceed as follows.

  1. Select the Tax matters tab on the MyTax home page.

  2. Click the link Tax debt certificate in the section Certificates.

  3. Stage Request details: Select whether you want to request a tax debt certificate only once or every month.

If you place a one-time order, you get the certificate in MyTax straight away. If you place a monthly order, the order will be in force for a year and a new certificate will appear in MyTax on the 1st day of each month.

  4. Stage Preview and send: Check that the details are correct. Finally, click Submit.

  5. You can open the tax debt certificate by clicking the Open tax debt certificate button. If needed, you can print out the certificate. Read instructions on how to print documents from MyTax. You will also receive the certificate by post.
