How to claim tax deductions for increased living expenses

Do you work in one of the special sectors – construction, earthmoving or forestry – and does your work require that you travel to another location from time to time? Click the button that best describes your situation. This wizard will tell you whether or not you can get a deduction based on increased living expenses, such as meals you need to pay for. You will also find out the size of a “standard” deduction in different situations.

The standard, formula-based tax deduction can be given to you in situations where you had to pay certain extra expenses but you are unable to provide all the receipts and documentation to indicate an exact sum of money. For example, an amount matching the tax-exempt meal allowance can be recorded as a daily standard deduction. This rule only applies to the special sectors of business and work.
