New employees can start working without registering for a tax number during 2−6 November 2019

Due to a service break at the Tax Administration, you will not be able to get a tax number or be entered in the register of tax numbers on 2–6 November 2019. If you are a new employee, you are allowed to start working on a construction site without registering for a tax number during that time.

If you are an employee from another country without a Finnish personal ID

Visit a tax office before 2 November to register for a Finnish personal ID and a tax number. Remember to request entry to the public tax number register, as well. Due to the service break, tax offices will be unable to give you a tax number or enter you in the register on 2–6 November 2019.

If your work begins during 2–6 November and you cannot visit a tax office in advance, you are allowed to begin working without a tax number. You must be able to prove that your employment contract started during this period. If your work starts before 2 November, you must have a tax number at the construction site.

If you start working without a tax number, visit the tax office immediately on 7 November to register for a tax number.

You must wear a name tag with a photo ID provided by your employer when working at the site even if you do not have a tax number.

If you have a Finnish personal ID

If you are a new employee at a construction site, call our telephone service at 029 497 070 before 2 November to get registered. You cannot be registered on 2–6 November 2019.

If you are a new employee and your work on the site begins during 2–6 November, you are allowed to begin working even if you are not in the tax number register. You must be able to prove that your employment contract started during this period. If your work starts before 2 November, you must have a tax number at the construction site.

If you start working without registering your tax number, request registration immediately on 7 November. You can see your tax number on your tax card.

Electronic register cannot be updated 2–7 November 2019

If you work on a construction site in Finland, you must have a personal tax number and you must be listed in the public tax number register.

During 2–7 November, the tax number e-service is online but it is unable to receive updates. In future, you can check the details in the MyTax e-service. MyTax will open on 8 November.
