Changes to authorisation

There will be changes to authorisations concerning tax matters. In the future, authorisations can be granted in the Suomi.fi e-authorisation service. You can already use the service to apply for authorisations, but the Suomi.fi authorisations will not come into effect in the Tax Administration’s e-services until November 2018.

Once you have e-authorised someone to take care of your tax matters, they can log in to the Tax Administration e-services with their online banking codes, mobile ID or certificate card and start using the services on your behalf.

Two different authorisations

There are two different authorisation types for tax matters: managing tax matters and filing tax returns.

Managing tax matters gives the authorised party the right to take care of all tax matters in all Tax Administration services on another party’s behalf.

Filing tax returns gives the party authorised as agent the right to only file tax returns and submit other tax-related notices on the behalf of another party. This authorisation does not give access to all services, such as MyTax.

These changes do not affect all taxpayer groups. For some, Katso IDs will remain in use along with the Suomi.fi authorisations until the end of 2019.

See upcoming changes to authorisation

You can use Suomi.fi authorisation

If you wish, you can authorise another person or company to take care of your tax matters on your behalf by using the Suomi.fi e-authorisation service.

Remember that Suomi.fi authorisations only come into effect in the Tax Administration’s e-services on 1 November 2018 even if the authorisation is granted before that date.

Select authorisation for managing tax matters

If you use MyTax, select managing tax matters as the authorisation type. In the Suomi.fi e-authorisation service, you can either request authorisation for yourself or grant authorisation to another person or company.

The authorisation for managing tax matters is valid in MyTax and other Tax Administration e-services, such as Ilmoitin.fi and Lomake.fi, as well as in tax offices and our telephone service.

Please note that after the authorisation is granted, the party authorised as agent can access all the tax data of the other party. The agent can see, edit and submit the authorising party’s data and has the right to receive letters and decisions concerning the taxation of the other party.

Managing the tax matters of an underaged child

If you have an underaged child, you will automatically be authorised to take care of their tax matters in MyTax as of November 2018. The e-authorisation service checks the Population Information System to see if you have a guardian’s right to manage the child’s tax matters.

Use Suomi.fi authorisation if your agent uses MyTax

Agents acting on behalf of self-employed individuals must use Suomi.fi authorisation in MyTax from November 2018 onwards.

Agents cannot use a Katso ID for logging in after 1 November 2018. The self-employed individuals themselves can still use their online banking codes for logging in.

Only one authorisation is valid in MyTax: managing tax matters. If you manage the tax matters of another party, you must apply for e-authorisation for managing tax matters on Suomi.fi.

The authorisation for managing tax matters is valid in MyTax and other Tax Administration e-services, such as Ilmoitin.fi and Lomake.fi, as well as in tax offices and our telephone service.

Please note that after the authorisation is granted, the agent can see, edit and submit tax data of the company as well as of the individual who granted the authorisation.

As of 1 November 2018, you can log in to Ilmoitin.fi and Lomake.fi with your Katso ID or with your online banking codes, mobile ID or certificate card to use your Katso role and manage the tax matters of the self-employed individual you represent.

Please note that if you have managed another party’s tax matters with a Katso role in the AlvEU, M1SS or Real Estate Details Online services, you will have to continue using Katso identification for these services instead of Suomi.fi authorisation.

Use Suomi.fi authorisation if your agent uses MyTax

Agents acting on behalf of farming or forestry operators must use Suomi.fi authorisation in MyTax from November 2018 onwards.

Agents cannot use a Katso ID for logging in after 1 November 2018. The farming or forestry operator themselve can still use their online banking codes for logging in.

Only one authorisation is valid in MyTax: managing tax matters. If you manage the tax matters of another party, you must apply for e-authorisation for managing tax matters on Suomi.fi.
