New version of Ilmoitin.fi to be launched 4 February 2025

From 7 am to 9 am on 4 February 2025, service is down and both the www.ilmoitin.fi website and its software interfaces are temporarily unavailable.

Key changes:

  • Ilmoitin.fi accepts income tax returns for corporate taxpayers’ 2025 accounting periods. Users can both check and submit returns (Forms 4, 6, 6B, 6C and 6U).
    • In addition to the annual changes, there have been other changes to the following data format specifications:  4, 6, 6B, 6U, 8A, 67A, 67Y.
    • 79 and 79A have been removed.
    • Attachment type ”Muu liite” changed to ”Vapaamuotoinen liite” (=free-form attachment).
    • New attachment type: ”Muu tilinpaatosasiakirja vain Verolle”  (= Tax Administration – Other document for financial statement).
    • Data format specifications are available on vero.fi.
  • The data format specifications for annual information returns for the 2025 reporting year are published on 3 February, but their formats will not be available until the March version of Ilmoitin.fi is launched on 25 March 2025. The specifications are available on vero.fi.

Ilmoitin.fi will stop accepting eSARA files:

You can continue to send eSARA files to the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela) using Ilmoitin.fi up to autumn 2025 as Kela has announced that the last date when these report files are received will be September 30, 2025.

If your company is a large employer and it uses eSARA files for submitting reports and applications for social benefits, we recommend that you start using the interface in the Incomes Register. To file reports and applications through the Incomes Register is easy. However, certain updates to your company’s payroll accounting software will probably be needed.

News about Vero API

New API for excise duties on electricity

The Tax Administration will build an interface for taxpayers that send us information relating to excise duties on electricity. Users can access the new interface starting 3 February 2025.

Companies paying these excise duties will have a direct programming interface, allowing direct transmission of data from the company’s software to the Tax Administration, eliminating the need to log into MyTax to submit a tax return for the excise duty.

Last year, a set of new APIs became available for excise duties on beverage containers and soft drinks – 24 May 2024, and for alcohol – 29 August 2024.

Household expenses reporting for companies API

Changes were introduced to the reporting due dates.

As of 15 January 2025, business enterprises will have time for using the API up to the end of January to send information to the Tax Administration regarding the amounts they have received from individuals. This is a change from the previous due date for reporting (31 December). As it turned out, there were problems in matching the invoiced amounts of money with the right year when the companies that had sold their services to households would send an invoice to an individual consumer at the end of December. Because these companies were unable to furnish the Tax Administration with a full report at the end of the year, they sent their reports in January.
