Lender: apply for a data permission as soon as possible – the processing takes longer than previously estimated

1/23/2024

Lenders can start using the Positive credit register’s data on 1 April 2024. Every lender needs an approved data permission issued by the controller, i.e. the Incomes Register Unit, in order to be able to use the registered data. So far, few lenders have applied for a date permission.

Apply for a data permission as soon as possible, so that we have enough time to make a decision on your data permission before the beginning of April. The processing times for data permission applications have lengthened: at the moment, the processing may take up to six weeks. We previously estimated that the average processing time would be 30 days, but this has turned out to be too optimistic. The reason is that the Incomes Register Unit has had to ask for additional information more often than expected.

To enhance smooth processing of data permission applications, fill in your data permission application very carefully and make sure to answer all the questions asked. When you fill in information about the organisation's business operations and the purposes for which the organisation will use the Positive credit register’s data, be very careful and give details on all the statutory purposes for which you intend to use the data.

Please note that before you can start requesting credit register extracts, you must have a certificate for using data, as well as an approved data permission. Also reserve time for retrieving the certificate.
