In May, more than 200,000 customers of Nordea Bank will receive a message from the Tax Administration concerning e-invoices
News, 5/6/2025In May, the Tax Administration will send out electronic “e-invoice proposals”, meaning a payee's suggestion for you to start paying the bills as e-invoices. These messages will be delivered to individual taxpayers whose bank account is in Nordea. If the bank account number you have informed the Tax Administration of is a Nordea bank account, and a real estate tax, a back tax or a prepayment is payable some time this year, you will be among those who receive the suggestion.
Avoid late-payment interest
Many taxpayers forget to pay taxes on time. The real estate tax and the back tax (residual income tax) are the two types of taxes for which the due dates are especially difficult to remember because the taxpayer normally receives the information concerning the amount several months in advance of the due date of the tax. If any tax is left unpaid at the due date, collection of interest for late payment will start the next day. For example, the rate of late-payment interest on inheritance tax is 8% in 2025, and for other taxes it is 11.5%.
However, e-invoiced taxes are easier to remember because the invoices will appear in the individual taxpayer’s e-bank screen on the smartphone, other mobile device, or computer. All the details you need for paying are included: the Tax Administration’s bank account numbers and reference numbers, the amount to pay, and the due date. The taxpayer who has signed up for e invoicing can select an automatic debiting function, if preferred.
After the taxpayer has accepted to sign up, they will receive e-invoices for real estate taxes, prepayments, back taxes, inheritance taxes and gift taxes.
A genuine message about e-invoicing is displayed only in your Netbank
Nordea Bank and the Tax Administration co-operate when sending the messages. As a result, the customers of Nordea will receive e-invoice proposals and this is not a scam, so they can accept to enroll with the program safely. The message will keep showing on your screen for 30 days.
If you are a user of the Nordea Mobile Bank (the app), you will see it under “Payments and e-invoices”. If you are a user of the Nordea Netbank, you will see it under “e-Invoices”.
The Tax Administration will additionally send out repeat messages on Tuesday 20 May via MyTax or by SMS to those who have not yet accepted to sign up. Text messages coming from the Tax Administration never contain links.
Did you not receive e-invoice proposal messages? You can ask for e-invoicing in MyTax or Netbank
If no message arrived in your e-mail concerning e-invoicing you can still ask to sign up if you go to “Paying taxes and payment details” in MyTax. Alternatively, you can log in to Nordea Netbank/Mobile Bank to send the request for signing up. You can do this at any time. If you have become registered as a taxpayer receiving e-invoices at least 2 weeks before the due date of an upcoming tax falling due, you will have enough time for paying it as an e-invoiced tax.
