One of the Tax Administration account numbers will change on 1 December 2026

The Tax Administration has bank accounts at Nordea and Danske Bank. On Tuesday 1 December 2026, the Tax Administration will start using a new OP bank account and, after a 6-month period of transition, the account at Danske Bank will be closed on 31 May 2027. The bank account at Nordea remains unchanged.

The reason for the bank account change is the government’s competitive tendering of the banks used for payment transactions.

Check the payment information saved in the online bank

If you have saved tax payment information in your online bank, check the account number in the payment template. The number of the Danske Bank account that will be closed begins with FI56.

If the payment template has the Danske Bank account number, replace it with the bank account that the Tax Administration has at Nordea or with the new OP account number. You will find the new account number on the “Tax payment details and paying” page in MyTax starting on 1 December 2026. The Tax Administration cannot give you the new account number before that because the agreement period with the bank does not start until 1 December.

You do not need to do anything if you pay taxes in MyTax or using e-invoice or web invoice

We will update the new OP account number automatically

  • to MyTax
  • to e-invoices and web invoices
  • to direct payments
  • to new decisions and letters
  • to the Palkka.fi service.

The new account number will be updated to MyTax and Palkka.fi on 1 December 2026. For technical reasons, the new account number will be updated to new decisions, e-invoices and web invoices and to certain pdf files in MyTax in the second half of November. The change concerns only new decisions, invoices and files generated after that. You can safely pay your taxes using the payment information stated in the invoice or file.

If you have received an e-invoice or web invoice before the account number changes, you can pay the invoice normally with no need to change the account number. The next invoice that you receive will contain the new account number.

Be careful with payment information stated in old decisions and letters

If you check the tax payment information in an old decision or letter, pay attention to the Tax Administration account number. If the decision or letter has been generated before mid-November 2026, it contains the number of the Danske Bank account that will be closed. Use the Tax Administration’s Nordea account number instead or look up the new OP account number in MyTax.

The account number given in old decisions and letters will not be updated. They may therefore include the number of the Danske Bank account that will be closed even if the due date for the tax to be paid is not until after the end of the transition period.

Example starts

Example: Essi agreed on a 12-month payment arrangement with the Tax Administration in September 2026. The last instalment is due in autumn 2027.

Essi has received a letter in MyTax that contains payment instructions and payment information. The payment information in the letter includes the Tax Administration account number at Nordea and the number of the Danske Bank account that will be closed, even though the last instalment of the payment arrangement is not due until after the end of the transition period.

If Essi has paid the previous instalments of the payment arrangement to the account at Danske Bank, she must change the account number to that of Nordea or OP when she pays the instalment due in June 2027.

Example ends

The transition period will end on 31 May 2027

Payments made to the Danske Bank account will reach the Tax Administration up until 31 May 2027.

The account will be permanently closed as of 1 June 2027, and any payments made to it after that will be returned to the payer. It may take a few days before a payment is returned. If you made the payment from a foreign bank account, it may take even longer.

If the payment is returned to you, you must pay the tax again using a valid bank account number. If the due date for the tax passes before you pay the tax to the valid account, you must also pay late-payment interest.

Because your payment may be returned and late-payment interest charged from you, we advise you to update the OP account number to the payment templates in your online bank immediately after 1 December 2026.
