The Incomes Register’s liability for the accuracy of income data expands in 2027 – the change affects credit register extract data

2/2/2026

In future, income earners can request the Incomes Register Unit to correct their personal data and limit the processing of the data. They can also request that missing data should be added. This will be possible starting in January 2027. After that, when a data subject denies the accuracy of their data, information about it will be transmitted from the Incomes Register to the Positive credit register. Lenders will see if the accuracy of data has been denied when they receive credit register extracts.

A private individual will see that they have denied the accuracy of their income data when they view credit register extracts requested about their data. Credit register extracts are available in the Positive credit register’s e-service.

What is this all about?

If a credit register extract shows that the income earner has denied the accuracy of their income data, the lender must consider the person’s data extra carefully and also use other sources in addition to the credit register extract. For example, the lender can ask about the income data directly from the loan applicant.

How and when will the change take place?

The Positive credit register is making preparations to receive ‘accuracy denied’ entries from the Incomes Register and to disclose the information to lenders on credit register extracts. Lenders can study the implications of the change in advance and make changes to their systems as necessary to be able to receive the information. In addition, they should test the function in good time before the information can be shared from the credit register starting in 2027. The schedule for the change is the following:

  • The API description will be published on 1 April 2026
  • Stakeholder testing begins in August 2026
  • The ‘accuracy of income data denied’ entry will be shown on credit register extracts starting on 4 January 2027
    • The change will be released to the production environment in advance, in October 2026
