Credit register extracts may have contained inaccurate data in early 2026

2/13/2026

Multiple separate errors were detected in the Positive credit register’s data in January–February 2026. Because of this, private individuals’ data disclosed on credit register extracts may have been inaccurate. We are investigating the extent of the errors and their effect on the credit register extract data in cooperation with lenders. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers.

Data reported to the register remained stuck – error corrected

As we communicated earlier, some data reported to the Positive credit register remained stuck between 28 January and 6 February 2026 because of a batch processing error. The error has been corrected, and we are currently investigating whether incorrect data has been disclosed on credit register extracts.

Expired certificates stopped reporting for three lenders

The certificates of three lenders, Avida Finans Ab, Nordnet Bank AB Suomen sivuliike and Telia Finance Finland, had expired. As the certificates are needed to use the API's for reporting, they were unable to report data to the register.

Avida Finans Ab had a gap in their reporting between 29 January and 9 February 2026 and Nordnet Bank between 16 January and 3 February 2026. Telia Finance Finland’s reporting stopped on 8 February and is yet to start again. Due to the break in their reporting, it is likely that the register contains incomplete or incorrect data for these lenders. The certificates of Avida and Nordnet have been renewed, and the lenders are currently reporting data normally. As regards Nordnet, errors in loan data reported to the register have also been corrected. Avida’s correction schedule is yet to be confirmed and Telia Finance’s certificate renewal is currently underway.

Inaccuracies in credit card data reported by OP Pohjola

Two separate errors were detected in data reported by OP Pohjola between December and February.

In certain special cases, data on changes to credit card credit limits has not been transmitted from OP Pohjola to the Positive credit register. Because of this, the credit card credit limits of some of OP Pohjola’s customers may be incorrect in the register. The error is estimated to concern around 12,500 credits.

Further, starting on 4 February 2026, OP Pohjola has had a technical problem in the reporting of data. Because of the problem, payment transactions and other updates regarding some credit cards have not been transmitted to the register. The problem may affect customers that apply for a loan before the error is corrected. A delay in the updating of data affects some of OP Pohjola’s credit card customers. On account of the delay, credit card customers’ credit limits and amounts of loan balance, for example, may be incorrect on the credit register extracts.

OP Pohjola estimates that the data will be corrected by the end of next week.

Private individual, do you think there is an error in your data? Do as follows.

When a private individual applies for a loan, the lender is obliged to assess their creditworthiness. To assess creditworthiness, the lender requests a credit register extract from the Positive credit register. Because the register’s data may be incorrect, it is possible that credit decisions have been made based on inaccurate data.

If you have not applied for a loan in January or February this year, this has no effect on you.

You can check your loan information in the Positive credit register’s e-service. In the e-service, you can also see who has requested a credit register extract about your data and when.

If you detect any errors in your loan data in the e-service, please contact the lender who has submitted the data to the register. The lender is responsible for the data it reports and for making corrections, and the quickest way to have data corrected is to ask the lender to correct it.

You can find the lender’s details in the Loan information section. Please note that the information shows the lender’s marketing name, which may differ from the lender’s official name. To find the official name, do as follows:

  • In the Loan information section, first select the loan whose data you want to view.
  • Then select Open all details.
  • You will find the lender’s official name under Lender details.

If you do not reach the lender or if contacting the lender does not help, you can also contact our customer service. We will help you settle the matter.
