Nordea has reported an error in deletion of parties from joint-liability loans

12/5/2025

Nordea has reported an error in the reporting of loans, which has affected the updating of data on less than 100 customers’ joint-liability loans to the register. According to Nordea, the error may have occurred in situations where a co-debtor’s liability for the loan ends. In some situations, an individual whose liability for the loan has ended may still have been shown as a debtor in the Positive credit register and on credit register extracts. According to Nordea, errors have concerned loans with collateral, i.e. mostly home loans. Nordea says that new similar errors can no longer occur.

Because of the error in the reporting of joint-liability loans, credit register extracts may have shown that the customer has a joint-liability loan although the liablity has ended. Further, some customers’ data may have shown that they have a joint-liability loan although the other party of the loan has, in fact, been deleted from the debtors.

Nordea’s customer – what is the impact on you?

If you have had a joint-liability loan in Nordea but your liability for the loan has ended, it is possible that the information about the end of your liability has not been recorded in the Positive credit register. You can check this in our e-service, where you can view your loan information.

  • If the register still shows a joint-liability loan that you no longer have, please contact Nordea and ask them to correct the information in the register.

Please note that if you have applied for a loan after your liability for the joint-liability loan ended but information on the loan is still in the register, it may also have been sent to lenders on credit register extracts.

You can check your credit register extracts in our e-service. The extracts show what information about you has been transmitted to your lenders.

  • If the extracts incorrectly show that you have a joint-liability loan, you can ask the lender that requested the extract if the information had any effect on their consideration of your loan application.

If you have a joint-liability loan from which one or more parties have been deleted, it is possible that the information Nordea has about the deletion has not been recorded in the Positive credit register. You can check this in our e-service, where you can view your loan information.

  • If the register still shows parties with a joint liability for the loan whose liability has ended, please contact Nordea and ask them to correct the information in the register.
