The Tax Administration won Ornamo’s Design Utiliser award for customer-oriented development

The Tax Administration received a significant recognition when design community Ornamo rewarded it for design utilisation in its customer-oriented development that enhances the trust of citizens, companies and organisations in society.

The Ornamo Award winners were chosen in the design progress, design pioneer and design utiliser categories. In addition, two outstanding master’s thesis were awarded. Markku Heikura, Director General of the Tax Administration, will accept the Design Utiliser award, designed by Timo Sarpaneva, during the Designers of Change discussion session held in Helsinki Design Week on 8 September from 1 pm to 3 pm.

According to the prize jury, the Tax Administration is rewarded for the creative and profound application of customer-oriented service and design on the various levels of the organisation. The Tax Administration has utilised the possibilities of digitality in the design of customer-oriented, easy-to-use services. The jury states that the tax authority has successfully managed to become a genuine service organisation that makes it easy to pay taxes.

Positive customer experience encourages taxpayers to comply with their tax obligations

In the justification for the award, the jury highlights the Tax Administration’s comprehensive service consisting of the telephone service, the tax.fi site and the MyTax e-service. The jury also mentions the ease of filing tax returns.

– This is a great recognition for the long-term development efforts of our committed employees. Our employees have a great service attitude, and they are genuinely interested in enabling effortless transactions to taxpayers. This has resulted in easy-to-use and accessible online services. We encourage the taxpayers to manage their taxes in MyTax. After all, taking care of taxes plays an important role in the management of personal finances, says Heikura.

– In addition to providing a logical and technically feasible online service, we also put major efforts to ensure that the content is clear and easy to understand. And if a taxpayer does not feel at home with digital services, our competent and helpful taxpayer service agents are always ready to help.
