Options in MyTax regarding refunds to be removed 19 August 2025
The Tax Administration will pay the refunds for self-assessed taxes to taxpayers immediately when their tax returns have been processed.
Starting August 19, the MyTax options regarding desired date and desired limit will be withdrawn. This means that all taxpayers will have the Immediately after processing option enabled. The other options have been:
- Refund after the next general due date
- Refund is saved for later use
If your current setting has been either "after next general due date" or "saved for later" – an option that will be withdrawn – and an amount is recorded as refundable to you, the Tax Administration will automatically send you the money, i.e. your refund. This will happen approx. one week from August 19. However, if our records indicate that you have not paid a certain tax by its due date, the Tax Administration will settle the overdue tax with the money that would otherwise be refunded.
We are removing the refund options in MyTax because of a recent change in legal provisions. Further changes to payment and refund processes will go into effect this November. The changes concern business and corporate taxpayers.
