Suomi.fi messages will be at your disposal once you identify yourself in our e-service
4/13/2026Suomi.fi messages will be at your disposal when you log in to the Positive credit register’s e-service from mid-April onwards. If you have been previously using Suomi.fi Messages, this change will not affect you.
Suomi.fi Messages will only be available to private adult customers; in other words, the change does not apply to minors, businesses or individuals who are under guardianship or who have a valid power of attorney. Customers who do not use the e-service will continue to receive correspondence from the authorities by post.
Why are Suomi.fi Messages being introduced for you?
Suomi.fi Messages will be automatically activated for all users from 14 April 2026 onwards when they log in to any public sector service that uses Suomi.fi identification. The reform is part of the ‘Digital First’ programme, which aims to reduce the amount of paper mail sent by public authorities and to transfer official communications primarily to digital formats. Suomi.fi Messages is a service provided by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
What's going on?
When you log in to any public authority's e-service after 14 April 2026, you will receive a notification via Suomi.fi that Suomi.fi Messages is now at your disposal.
- If you provide your email address when receiving the notification, you will always receive an email message whenever there are new messages in your Suomi.fi inbox.
- Even if you do not provide your email address when you receive the notification, you will still be able to access Suomi.fi messages.
You can also read letters and decisions sent to your Suomi-fi inbox on the https://suomi.fi/messages web page. You can also download the Suomi.fi mobile application, in which case you will receive notifications in the application as well.
Please note that, following the change, you will as a rule no longer receive letters from the authorities by post. From then on, they will only be sent electronically to your Suomi.fi inbox. For this reason, it is important that you provide your email address to the service, download the Suomi.fi mobile application or actively check the suomi.fi/messages web page for any letters and decisions sent to you. If you wish to opt out of Suomi.fi Messages, you can do so in the Digital and Population Data Service Agency’s Suomi.fi service.
When will the Positive credit register send you a Suomi.fi Message?
When you use Suomi.fi Messages, you will receive official correspondence exclusively electronically in your Suomi.fi inbox or Suomi.fi mobile application. Through Suomi.fi Messages, you can, for example, receive letters, decisions and invoices sent by various public authorities.
The Positive credit register currently sends notifications via Suomi.fi Messages regarding credit register extracts that have been requested about you. For information security reasons, there are no links in the messages. You can view credit register extracts about you that you have ordered in our e-service.
We will continue to send some of our notifications and letters by post. For example, we will send confirmation of a voluntary ban on credit on a paper form by post.
In future, we will also send decisions and various notifications via Suomi.fi Messages. We will report on this in more detail as soon as possible.
