API description released – preparations for the processing of apartment-specific credit liabilities of housing company loans begin
9/2/2026The data content of the Positive credit register will expand on 1 April 2027, as information about the apartment-specific credit liabilities and capital expenditure charges of housing company loans start to show in the register. On 1 September 2026, we published a description of the API for requesting a credit register extract containing the changes to be introduced on 1 April 2027. Study the API description in good time.
Why will apartment-specific credit liabilities be introduced into the register?
Apartment-specific credit liabilities will be introduced into the Positive credit register because they account for a significant part of Finnish households’ debt burden. Loans taken out by a housing company and the related loan servicing costs affect an individual shareholder’s ability to pay in the same way as any other debt. In legislation, apartment-specific credit liability is referred to as ‘credit liability allocated to share group’.
The register receives data directly from the Residential and Commercial Property Information System of the National Land Survey of Finland. Lenders must prepare for receiving new data because the API for requesting a credit register extract will change. We publish the API description related to the change well in advance in September so that lenders can prepare for the change in good time. In January 2027, the transfer of data from the Residential and Commercial Property Information System of the National Land Survey of Finland will also begin. The data can be used as of 1 April 2027. Stakeholder testing starts in January 2027. We will communicate about the testing schedule in greater detail closer to the start.
