Suomi.fi messages
We will send a notification to Suomi.fi messages if the Incomes Register's e-service has a message for you or the organisation you represent that requires action.
You can read the message by signing in to the Incomes Register’s e-service.
Why did I receive a Suomi.fi message?
You can receive a Suomi.fi message if, for example
- you have submitted several reports with the same content
- you have reported income as recovered, but you have not reported an unjust enrichment
- you are an actual employer and have not submitted a report in a substitute payer situation
- the organisation you represent has confirmed the reporting of benefit payments data, which is suspected to be unnecessary.
If you receive a message, please check the data you have provided to the Incomes Register and make the necessary corrections.
From 2027 onwards, you may also receive a Suomi.fi message if you request the rectification of your data saved in the Incomes Register or the restriction of its processing, or if a claim for rectification concerns a payment you have made.

Instructions for different situations
Suomi.fi messages will be automatically activated when you identify yourself
If you are not yet using Suomi.fi messages and you are of legal age, you will automatically become the recipient of official correspondence when you identify yourself to the public e-service with Suomi.fi identification for the first time.
Such services include, for example, MyTax, MyKanta, OmaKela and the Incomes Register’s e-service.
After this, most of the messages and letters sent by the authorities are delivered electronically to Suomi.fi messages. Some authorities only send a notification of a new message to Suomi.fi messages. The actual message is displayed in the authority's own e-service.
What does this mean in practice?
- You will receive a notification about the activation of Suomi.fi messages when you log in to the public e-service for the first time.
- You can add your email address to the service and receive notifications of new messages to your email as well.
- Suomi.fi messages will be activated even if you do not add your email address.
- You will receive official correspondence primarily electronically and not by post.
The change does not apply to minors, companies or individuals who are under guardianship or who hold a valid power of attorney. Customers who do not use the e-service will also continue to receive correspondence from the authorities by post.
