Suomi.fi messages will be at your disposal once you identify yourself in our e-service
4/13/2026When you log in to the Incomes Register’s e-service after mid-April, you will receive a notification that Suomi.fi Messages is now at your disposal. If you are already using Suomi.fi Messages, this notification will not be displayed.
Provide your email address when receiving the notification, and you will always receive an email message whenever there are new messages in your Suomi.fi inbox. Please note that Suomi.fi inbox will still be activated for you even if you do not provide your email address. After this, you will no longer receive correspondence from the authorities by post.
The change will come into effect on 14 April 2026. The change does not apply to minors, companies or individuals who are under guardianship or who hold a valid power of attorney. Customers who do not use the e-service will continue to receive correspondence from the authorities by post.
Why are Suomi.fi Messages being introduced?
The change is part of the ‘Digital First’ programme, which aims to reduce the amount of paper mail sent by public authorities and to transfer official communications primarily to digital formats. The Digital and Population Data Services Agency is responsible for implementing the change.
Following the change, Suomi.fi Messages will be activated to adults when they log in to any service that uses Suomi.fi identification.
What is Suomi.fi Messages?
Suomi.fi Messages is a service provided by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency that allows you to receive official correspondence electronically in your own Suomi.fi inbox.
Once Suomi.fi Messages has been activated for you, you will receive notifications, letters, decisions and invoices sent by various public authorities electronically in your Suomi.fi inbox. The same document will not be sent by post.

You can read messages received in Suomi.fi Messages via the Suomi.fi mobile app or on the website suomi.fi/messages. You can also disable Suomi.fi messages in the service.
Enter your email address in the service and you will receive an email notification when you have new messages in your Suomi.fi inbox.
In what circumstances might you receive a Suomi.fi message from the Incomes Register?
You can receive a Suomi.fi message in your own Suomi.fi inbox if you have submitted data to the Incomes Register as a payer using your own personal identity code.
You can also receive an email notification of a message in a company’s Suomi.fi inbox if you have been authorised as a representative of that company.
For information security reasons, messages in Suomi.fi Messages only give the heading. You can read the full message by logging in to the Incomes Register’s e-service and selecting ‘Archive’ from there. If you are using the e-service on behalf of a company, you may need a separate authorisation.
How to log in the Incomes Register’s e-service
We send Suomi.fi messages in the following situations, for example, so that you can check the situation and correct the data you have reported if necessary:
- you have submitted several reports with the same content
- you have reported income as recovered, but you have not reported an unjust enrichment
- you are an actual employer and have not submitted a report in a substitute payer situation
- the organisation you represent has made a confirmation of the reporting of benefits payment data, which is suspected to be unfounded.
From 2027 onwards, you may also receive Suomi.fi Messages from us if you request that your data stored in the Incomes Register be corrected or its use restricted.
