It is now time for many organisations to renew their API certificates
9/3/2026The certificates for the Income Register technical interfaces (APIs) retrieved in 2024 will expire this year.
Check with your software supplier to find out how to renew the certificate in the payroll or benefit software you are using. Different software programs have different practices when it comes to certificate management.
A certificate is always valid for two years, after which it must be renewed. If a certificate expires, you will no longer be able to submit or retrieve data via the API.
A reminder before your certificate expires
The technical contact person for a certificate receives a reminder message by email 60 days before the certificate expires.
Please keep the contact details of your technical contact person up to date. You can change the email address via the Tax Administration’s certificate service's e-service.
Certificates can be renewed at the earliest 60 days prior to their expiry date. The old certificate remains valid until the end of its original validity period.
Check when your organisation’s certificate is due to expire
You can check a certificate's validity period on the certificate itself. If you are unsure where to find this information in the software you are using, you can ask your software supplier for advice.
You can also view your organisation's certificates by logging into the certificate service's e-service.
Certificates renewed via the certificate service API
Certificates cannot be renewed via the certificate service's e-service; instead, renewal must be carried out via the certificate service’s API.
Some software suites have a function for renewing certificates, but not all. Contact your software provider to find out the situation for your software.
If your organisation’s certificate cannot be renewed using your software or it expires, request a new certificate for your organisation in the certificate service's e-service.
