ALVEU Online - Frequently Asked Questions

Data security

How do they know it’s me?

The Tax Administration uses secure sign-in processes to ensure proper identification. The methods are Katso-ID for businesses; a self-employed individual can log in with network banking ID or HST card, issued by the Population Register Centre. Your identity is thus confirmed at the moment when you sign in. The secure sign-in process involves a personal User ID and Password. They can only be issued to one individual at the time and cannot be transferred.

How can I feel safe that I am not being cheated?

The Finnish Tax Administration never asks users to send your network banking ID to any address by mail, e-mail or telephone. You are the only user of the ID, and you are expected to use it for signing in to the e-services.

What kind of data security does ALVEU Online have? What is the type of online connection?

The information interchange takes place over a secure connection. All taxpayer information is protected.

What are cookies? Should I have cookies enabled?

Internet Cookies are a small piece of data stored locally by your browser that saves information and helps identify you to ALVEU Online upon subsequent visits. Cookies fulfill an important data-security function. ALVEU Online requires that you enable cookies in your browser.

It does not cost anything to use ALVEU Online. But the banks that provide network-banking services collect charges for issuing the network ID. See the price list of your bank’s service charges. Similarly, the HST card of the Population Register Centre is issued against a charge.
