Changes to ALVEU and VAT Special Scheme e-services

MyTax will replace the ALVEU and VAT Special Scheme e-services in November 2019.

ALVEU e-service

You can request a VAT refund in the ALVEU e-service until 02.00 pm, 31 October 2019. After this, ALVEU will be closed, and you can no longer submit requests nor browse any saved files.

Requesting VAT refunds to foreigners will be possible in MyTax as of 8 November 2019 (All activities > Applications > VAT refund from other EU countries).

The files and records saved in ALVEU from 2014 onwards will be available for viewing and editing in MyTax. Please note that the transfer of data from ALVEU to MyTax will not include any refund requests that you have saved as unfinished in ALVEU and not submitted.

Note: If the UK exits the EU without a withdrawal agreement, MyTax can no longer be used for refund applications for VAT after the withdrawal comes into force. Read more about how Brexit may affect taxes

VAT Special Scheme e-service (Mini One Stop Shop)

You can submit information in the VAT Special Scheme e-service until 02.00 pm, 31 October 2019. After this, it will be closed, and you can no longer browse any files saved in it. Information cannot be submitted or updated in either of the e-services from 1 November 2019 to 7 November 2019.

As of 8 November 2019, MyTax will be available for the submittal of filings, updates and other information relating to the VAT Special Scheme in MyTax. The previously submitted information in the current e-service for the VAT Special Scheme will also be visible in MyTax. The information can be edited in the same way as today. In addition, users can submit a registration request for the Special Scheme in MyTax.

In addition, the messages sent from the Finnish Tax Administration to the VAT Special Scheme e-service can be seen in MyTax (under Mailbox > Messages) where they will be divided into separate archives by subject area.

  • Submit your information for period Q3/2019 (July to September) in the VAT Special Scheme e-service by 20 October 2019.
  • Submit your information for period Q4/2019 (October to December) in MyTax by 20 January 2020.

Note: If the UK exits the EU without a withdrawal agreement, it will have an impact on the filing of tax returns relating to the VAT special scheme tax and involving the UK. Read more about how Brexit may affect taxes

Are you filing details for someone else?

If you are using MyTax for someone else, you must have their authorisation. If you do not have the authorisation for managing tax matters, you need a separate Suomi.fi authorisation to

  • request a VAT refund from another EU Member State
  • file VAT special scheme returns.

You can get an authorisation in the Suomi.fi e-Authorizations service. The authorisation can be used in MyTax as of November. More information on authorisations
