Tax Number Register will be updated in February 2019Tax Administration Bulletin, 1/4/2019
At the end of February 2019, the details of approximately 900,000 persons will be removed from the public Tax Number Register. This concerns persons for whom no employee reports based on the reporting requirement in the construction sector have been submitted to the Tax Administration during the past two years.
Along with a personal ID, everyone has received a permanent tax number which must be entered into the public Tax Number Register for all those who work on shared construction sites. There are persons working on construction sites who must be registered for the purposes of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. They have been entered into the public Tax Number Register, even though the obligation to report to the Tax Administration has been limited.
The Tax Number Register will be updated in accordance with the data protection regulation that came into force in spring 2018. If the Tax Administration has not received information on a person in the employee reports, their entry will be removed from the Register on 28 February 2019.
After the update, entries in the public Tax Number Register can be checked at Check registrations in the Register of Tax Numbers (tax.fi), starting on 1 March 2019.
You can seek re-entry into the Tax Number Register
Persons whose details are removed from the Tax Number Register will not be separately notified. If needed, you can seek re-entry into the Register by either calling the service number for reports on construction work and tax numbers (029 497 070) or by visiting the tax office. A persons tax number will remain the same in case of re-entry.
Employers or project supervisors of construction sites can also request registration of a tax number electronically in the Ilmoitin.fi e-service.
